#75 🔥Everything I Had to Unlearn to Become My Own Boss (Podcast Episode)
The hardest part wasn’t finding clients - it was quieting my inner critic.
🎙️Listen to the full episode here.
Starting a business was NEVER about having the perfect plan.
Building something new forces you to heal the old.
It’s about working through fear, self-doubt and all the limiting beliefs that comes up every single day.

On @startupcreative, I shared the messy, hilarious, and terrifying journey of going out on my own—and the inner work I had to do to stop standing in my own way.
If you’ve ever felt stuck or unsure if you’re ready to leap, this episode gets it.
If you’ve dreamed of starting something, this episode is for you.
Also, Kaylene Langford is the go-to person if you want to start a side hustle or business and want a bit of business coaching and guidance ;)

The hardest part of starting a business isn’t the work—it’s rewiring the beliefs that tell you you can’t.
You hear about the money, the freedom, the flexibility, the status.
But what they don’t tell you is:
The self doubt.
The fear.
The uncertainty.
The times you cry yourself to sleep to make it through another day.
The bills that stake up that is waiting for you to pay.
The guilt of feeling like you’re not doing enough.
The shame of not having “made it” yet at the age of 29.
The instability of fluctuating incomes in different months.
The amount of times you will want to quit.
The amount of times you will taste failure and rejection like “a raw bleeding wound”.
The amount of times you wish you had stability instead.
****
But at the same time, the most beautiful parts of Entrepreneurship….
The joys of creating.
The joys of ownership.
The fun in becoming and being.
The first dollar you earn from your own creation.
The first booking, the first customer, the first invoice.
The euphoric feeling that comes from creating your own income.
The first time you reach 10k a month.
The first public speaking gig.
The first PAID speaking gig.
The first time someone buys and pays for what you CREATED.
The newfound confidence you gain along all of these FIRSTS…
It’s something that transforms you into someone that cannot be undone.
It’s the seasoning of hardship and grit and what it takes to be in business.
****
That’s what keeps you going.
Yes the downsides suck.
But the upside is tremendously rewarding as hell.
It makes the downsides worth it.
Because alongside of building your own business… you’re also building yourself.
You keep going because you have come too far.
You keep going because a part of you refuses to submit to defeat.
You keep going because you have underestimated yourself.
You keep going because you have disproven your inner critics over and over that you start to wonder what else is possible on the other side of entreneurship.
You keep going because the hardship is what have made you into who you are today.
It transforms and rewires your beliefs about failure, rejection, hardship.
As sadistic and crazy as it sounds, you start to look forward to it.
Because you know it’s going to teach you a valuable lesson.
It’s going to make you better.
It’s something you can’t learn from school or at a job.
This business creation has been the best teacher in UNLEARNING AND REFRAMING failure.
Failure isnt final.
It isn’t fatal.
It’s just the start.
It redirects you to pivot, to tweak and to recalibrate in a different way.
Then charge all speed ahead when you figure out a way that works for you.
****
You see…Entrepreneurship isn’t just about the money.
It’s about overcoming the voices in your head that whispers to you every single day, “Who the f*** do you think you are to start and grow a successful business ?” a thousand times.
It’s refusing to give up ever single day despite all odds staked against you.
It’s continuing to build your vision every day with a stupid amount of optimism, delusion and conviction.
It’s brainstorming and coming up with creative ways to ride through the storm on quiet days with minimal bookings.
Stepping away from security taught me more than any job ever could.
Because every decision forces you to grow in ways you didn’t expect.
